Troubleshooting
The most common issues and how to solve them. The connector itself is read-only and stateless — most problems are on the client (browser or desktop app) side.
No approval prompt in Claude web (tool calls hang or come back "not authorized")
Symptom: You ask something that should call an Odoo tool, but the approval prompt never appears, the request is slow, and Claude says the tools were not approved.
Cause: A browser extension is interfering with Claude's OAuth/approval popup. VPNs, ad blockers, script blockers and privacy extensions are the usual culprits — and they interfere even when they look "disconnected" or idle.
How to confirm: Open claude.ai in an Incognito / Private window (extensions are disabled there). If the prompt works in Incognito, it is an extension in your normal profile.
Fix:
- Disable the offending extension on claude.ai (start with VPN / ad / privacy blockers), or clear claude.ai site data, then reload.
- Workaround: because the tools are read-only, set them to Allow unsupervised (auto-approve) in the connector's Tool permissions. With no popup to render, the extension issue no longer applies.
"Odoo rejected that email + API key combination"
Cause: The Odoo login is not always an email. Many users sign in with a plain username (e.g. jdoe) that has no @.
Fix: Enter the exact login you use to sign in to Odoo. Confirm the API key belongs to that same user and has not been revoked.
A tool returns "Contact your administrator to request access"
Cause: Your Odoo user lacks read access to that app's data (e.g. Sales, Purchase, Inventory). It is normal not to have access to every area.
Fix: Ask your Odoo administrator to grant your user read access to the relevant app. Tools for areas you can access keep working.
It was working, then suddenly errors after a while
Cause: The server was updated/restarted, which resets the live session.
Fix: Simply reconnect (or retry the request) to start a fresh session. Your saved credentials are not lost.
Claude Desktop won't finish connecting
See Claude Desktop (Windows). In short: the web app is the most reliable surface; on Desktop you may need a small config edit.
